About the neighborhood
The tennis community north of the club
Unlike the century-old Tudor and Mediterranean estates of adjacent Wykagyl Park, Wykagyl Estates is one of New Rochelle's newer enclaves: late-twentieth-century ranches and 1990s contemporaries along quiet lanes like Dusk Drive, Pondview Lane, and Skyview Lane, just north of the Wykagyl Country Club. It began as a tennis community, and shared courts still bring neighbors together.
Lots are laid out for privacy and green space, and the small Wykagyl downtown cluster of shops and eateries is close enough for walkable errands. The name nods to the region's Algonquin heritage, and the wider North End grew from farmland into a commuter suburb after the railroad arrived in the early twentieth century.
