About the neighborhood
Larkfield's small-town main street
Two early settlements, Larkfield and Clay Pitts, grew into East Northport, a Huntington hamlet on land purchased from the Matinecock centuries ago; the Clay Pitts name recalls the red clay that fed its first industries. Colonials and Cape Cods dominate under mature oaks and maples, with newer condominiums designed for active seniors mixed in.
Larkfield Road is the main artery, a relaxed strip of locally owned shops, cafes, and a weekend farmers market. Schools and traditions are shared with neighboring Northport, the Northport-East Northport Public Library serves as the common living room, and the North Shore's beaches and harbors are never far.
