About the neighborhood
A village on Brosewere Bay
Samuel Wood planned this South Shore spot as a resort community in the late nineteenth century, and it incorporated as a village in 1912. Woodsburgh remains small and residential: colonials with wide porches, Tudors, and the occasional shingle-style house set back on generous, planted lots along winding roads.
Brosewere Bay borders the village to the south, and the land sits only a few feet above sea level, which gives the light and air a maritime cast. It is part of the Five Towns but runs its own active village government, and life here is deliberately unhurried.
