About the neighborhood

Wright, Stickley, and Fitzgerald

An architecture tour hides inside this small village: the Ben Rebhuhn House, the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed residence on Long Island; the Gustav Stickley House of the American Craftsman movement; and the home where F. Scott Fitzgerald is believed to have written early chapters of The Great Gatsby. Around them, Tudors and Colonials from the Gold Coast era line winding, tree-canopied streets. Residents incorporated as a self-governing village in 1911, and that independent streak persists.

The village park does heavy lifting in daily life, with tennis and pickleball courts, a swimming pool, and a playground, while residents also hold private waterfront access on Little Neck Bay for kayaking and paddleboarding. Recent streetscape work, ornamental ironwork and new plantings included, shows how seriously upkeep is taken here.
